Excuse me, are you a Sports Photographer?

September 17, 2008 by aoelof · Leave a Comment

TILT received a phone call on 15th September from the General Manager of Singapore Armed Forces Football Club and he asked us “Excuse me, are you a sports photographer?”

afc_cup_qf_060We politely informed him that sports photography is, in fact, one of our strengths. Having been involved in Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2007 & 2008, Waterfest 2007 & 2008, Aviva 70.3 Ironman 2007 & 2008, 4th Asean Para Games, Coach Recognition Award 2007 as well as shooting consistently for Football Weekly, we are pretty experienced in Sports Photography.

He has his doubts but nonetheless, decided to use TILT for the Asian Football Confederation Cup Quarter-Final Match between SAF FC and Al-Nahda, held at Jalan Besar Stadium.

2 days later, after we submitted the photographs, the response from the Ms. Jorine Sim, Executive, Marketing & Corporate Affairs, was as follows:

Hi Tay Ling,

Pics you took are great! Thanks!

Cheers.
Jorine

We are glad that one more company has now recognised TILT’s strength.

Here at TILT, we get questions from friends and clients who always wonder how our life as Official Photographers are like. Well, a picture speaks a thousand words and we thought by posting the picture below, you can see the kind of situation which we face most of the time in major events. This is a scenario….that we face most of the time…

If you can guess where we are, drop us a comment and we will surprise you with a mystery gift for the effort which you put in guessing.

Happy guessing!

An Ironman’s grit and sensitivity

September 8, 2008 by aoelof · Leave a Comment

TILT has the honour of being the Official Photographer for both Aviva 70.3 Ironman 2007 and 2008. Through the lapse of a year, we witnessed both an Ironman’s grit and sensitivity.

aviva_382Just to share with those who had missed Aviva 70.3 Ironman 2007, one of the participants stood out amongst the huge crowd. He was not the winner, neither was he last. In fact, he completed the Aviva 70.3 Ironman 2007 in 5h 25m 36s which was not really a feat either. But what caught our attention was that he swam, cycled and ran 70.3 miles with only one objective in his mind. He found his goal, he proposed and achieved his objective. On 2nd Sept 2007, 1.50pm, he achieved perhaps what was an extrodinary show of his sensitivity to the one person who mattered most to him. It is a pity that we did not manage to catch his name.

After 1 year, for Aviva 70.3 Ironman 2008, TILT is not sure if he took part in the event again but we witness another participant’s grit to come out as the winner in this second edition of the Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore, held at Playground @ Big Splash, where a beach-front lifestyle hub was transformed into an athlete village for the weekend.

aviva_ironman_362Rebekah Keat, a professional, who took part in the race suffered a bad stitch during the run. She held on and her grit showed through. She ran through the pain barrier and after the second lap of the run portion, she started to pull away. Boy, was she fast in her run! She ran and ran as if her life was totally dependent on it. When the race finally ended, she came in with a time of 4h 25m 43s to take pole position. The humble pro pounced on her coach with joy after she crossed the finishing line and exclaimed “He is the best coach ever!”

Her emotions took over momentarily and shortly after, she regained herself and smiled to us. Her determination and grit certainly moved us and we hope that with this tale of “An Ironman’s grit and sensitivity”, you are moved and perhaps in 2009, we will be featuring you then.

p/s: If you are wondering why it is 70.3, drop us a comment and we will reveal it to you.

Madness! It simply is madness!!!

September 7, 2008 by aoelof · Leave a Comment

The NBA Madness Asia Tour is a yearly NBA event that tours the region and Singapore is the last stop for this Asia-wide event. This year marks the 1st time NBA Madness is coming to Singapore. The event took place at Marina Square from 5th – 7th September 2008.

TILT is commissioned by Singapore Sports Council to cover the event under the Sport On website which we are doing the editorial and photography support and boy, when we were there…it was truly madness!!!

Girls are dunking (with a little bit of help)!
Guys are dunking (also with a little bit of help)!
Kids were also dunking (also, but with a lot of help)!
The Orlando Magic dancers were wowing the crowd (with absolutely no help)!

p/s: If you want to find out what kind of help they had, just drop us a comment and we will reveal the answers to you.

Catch a glimpse of the madness below.
