There are many genres of photography and here at TILT, Sports Photography is one our major strength. So, what exactly is sports photography?

TILT’s definition is that Sports Photographers are like athletes. They need to be able to

  • aim like an archery player
  • have the reflexes of a handball player
  • concentrate like a gold player
  • endurance of a trialathlete
  • versatility of a gymnastic athlete
  • awareness of a football / soccer player
  • positioning of a basketball player
  • strength of a weight lifter
  • firepower of a paintballer
  • and many more

In sports, the peak form often comes to play which is why training is catered such that your form can peak at the right time. In sports photography, this is not exactly not applicable as well. At the beginning of the “season”, you will find that you are rusty. After a few games, you will get into the groove. What do we mean by that? It can be as simple as being able to spot a better position to be in. You start anticipating the next move that may happen and more! You simply concentrate more!

Sports photographers always strive to capture in a unique way the fast-paced action and drama of the competition. A picture says a thousand words. Besides on-field action, capturing off-field drama which summarizes the game in one photo is important.
