Canon Sports Photography Seminar
July 31, 2009 by aoelof · Leave a Comment
With the reduction in price in DSLRs and the buzz about the upcoming Singapore Youth Olympic Games (SYOG) 2010, it is without a doubt that sports photography is on the rise.
In fact, over at TILT where Sports Photography is our specialisation, we have organised 3 runs of Sports Photography workshops to youth. As part of our belief in educating the general public, we will like to introduce to our readers the ‘Canon Sports Photography Seminar‘.
Sports Photography offers the full range of emotions which no other genre of photography is able to offer. Everyone loves a great sporting moment – be it tough fought victory or the triumph of an underdog. But for those who have tried our hands at taking sports photographs some time or other, you do realised that the challenges and difficulties are just as diverse.
If you are interested in the Canon Sports Photography Seminar, why not troop on down to listen to Albert Sim – veteran sports photographer from the Straits Times, who has been capturing the finest moments in sports photography.
He will share on how to anticipate the best moment to fire the shutter. The lens or camera setting you should choose to capture the moment. The best angles to capture the action for the various sports.
Happening on 1st August 2009 at Raffles Hotel (The Ballroom) from 1.30pm – 5pm, we will be there to hear Albert Sim. How about you?

Making Some Noise!

Noise Singapore, an initiative of the National Arts Council, is an arts festival for young people, by young people. Building on various media platforms, Noise Singapore is dedicated to creating noise about the creative talent of young people in Singapore.
During Noise Singapore 2009, TILT covered one of the events, Noise by the Bay, which showcased music by upcoming local bands. Today, we received an email and are pleasantly surprised to hear this from ‘The Lion Story’.
We are a local band called ‘The Lion Story’ and we have been very impressed by the photos taken of our performance during the NOISE Singapore Festival by Tay Ling.
Amin

The S$10 Million Deal
July 10, 2009 by aoelof · Leave a Comment
It is a big deal, in fact, it is the S$10 million deal when Standard Chartered Bank renewed its naming rights sponsorship of the Singapore Marathon for another four years. This year also marked a change in the event’s apparel sponsor from Adidas to New Balance.
During the Press Conference held at Battery Road, which TILT was covering as the Official Photographers for this year’s Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon, it was revealed that Standard Chartered bank will invest another S$10 million in promotion and sponsorship fees for the marathon until 2012. This ensures the marathon will continue to grow and flourish in Singapore.

Incidentally, New Balance was the first apparel sponsor for the Singapore Marathon.
It is with great hope that this event can continue to be one of the premier Asia’s running event.
The event launch will be held on 16 July. For those ready to put on their running gear, they can run down to Raffles Place Park to sign up for the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) 2009 and be prepared for 6th December 2009.
The First Youth Olympic Games
July 9, 2009 by aoelof · Leave a Comment
The Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) has produced a brochure to publicise about the First Youth Olympic Games.
In their process of designing the brochure, they realised that they do not have a strong cover photograph which they can use. SYOGOC, then approached TILT and asked if we can assist, out of goodwill, in taking a good brochure cover photograph. Through our communication to them, we understood the requirements which they have and we immediately went about sourcing for talents and venue to take the photograph required. Through our clientele contacts, we managed to contact Republic Polytechnic to assist in this area and within 2 hours, we have the talents and venue secured. Very quickly, we reverted back to SYOGOC and informed them about the art direction as well as the confirmation of talents and venue.
Within 24hours, the photograph was taken and we emailed over to SYOGOC. Below is the response from SYOGOC.
Wow. I really like what I see.
