An initiative started by President S. R. Nathan in 2000, the President’s Challenge began as a month-long movement to encourage Singaporeans from all walks of life to help the less fortunate among us.
With strong public support, it has since developed into a year-long community-driven charity campaign. More organisations, agencies, citizen groups and individuals have also come forward to volunteer, contribute in fundraising activities and beyond.
Currently in it’s 10th year, TILT had been fortunate to be a part of this meaningful cause. We were first involved in 2008, where we were tasked to design PC 2008’s below-the-line collaterals, namely, posters and brochure. With a deeper involvement this year, TILT, besides taking on PC 2010’s below-the-line collaterals, has been working on several above-the-line collaterals. From the launch advertisement to the latest advertisement showcasing the revamped PC 2010 website, TILT has been working on the project since early April 2010, to assist in the promotional effort of the President’s Challenge Steering Committee.
With several events running via a single platform, the President’s Challenge coordinates all efforts and funds to do more for the less fortunate. To date, it has raised over S$80 million for more than 440 welfare organisations supporting needy children, families, the elderly, the disabled and other social service endeavours.
Other than achieving the primary aims of increasing public awareness for the less priviledged and raising funds for the social service sector, the President’s Challenge also serves an even greater purpose – to create a more cohesive society by involving every Singaporean.
Can you spare that moment to care?
