Inspiring Sporting Singapore Photography exhibition and Interview

July 12, 2010 by aoelof · Leave a Comment

The Inspiring Sporting Singapore Photography exhibition is now on at most National Libraries. TILT is honoured to have been selected by Singapore Sports Council to contribute photographs for this exhibition which is being held from 2 May 2010 – 26 August 2010.

With a theme of Excellence, Friendship and Respect, our chief photographer was also honoured to have been selected by Singapore Sports Council to be interviewed by CNA, which was conducted on 25 June 2010.

“There is not a single genre of photography which will be able to provide you with a full spectrum of emotions within 10s (for 100m dash) to 90 minutes (for soccer). It is only in Sports Photography that you will be able to capture the joy, the sorrow, the anger and the agony all within such a short period of time.” revealed TILT’s Chief Photographer, Tay Ling.

“Behind each and every photograph is an actual story. This story serves to inspire everyone to pick up sports. And the beauty of this is that all of us have a part to play in it! Not everyone can be good in sports. But all of us can do our part to aid Singapore in becoming the Sporting Hub. We can do our bit in playing a supporting role, whether in sports photography, sports marketing, sports event management or sports journalism and more!” as he shares on his passion in sports photography.

With the recent conclusion of the FIFA 2010 World Cup, Tay Ling also shared that his dream is to be able to take photographs at the Fifa World Cup before he stops clicking on the shutter.

The challenge aims to inspire & motivate groups of employees to lose weight the healthy way through the provision of an effective structured programme.

After just a mere 2 weeks, the intensity had increased and the participants are doing less talk and more action. In fact, TILT witnessed the intensity in their eyes where they do want to work hard and smart to achieve your fitness goals.

A participant happily exercising during National Healthy Lifestyle Campaign 2009 "Lose to Win" ChallengeThroughout the session where they were treated to a series of stations treats such as modified Captain’s Ball, kick-boxing, sprinting and other stationary exercises, the participants were totally covered with perspiration. But most importantly, TILT, as the Official Photographer and Videographer for National Healthy Lifestyle Campaign 2009, were greeted constantly with their smiles and laughter.

It is a clear sight for us to see that the particpants are clearly happy to lose! We were also treated constantly to cheers such as
“Give us one Macho Clap! Ooosshhh!”
    “Are you alright? OK!!!”
    “Are you ok? Alright!!!”

Intense in the Spirit of Sports

    August 25, 2009 by aoelof · Leave a Comment

Sports in Singapore had always needed a boost. In a sport like Paintball, the support and boost needed is definitely much more. For paintball, the main competition in Singapore is the Singapore Paintball Novice Series (SPNS). Through this platform, the Paintball Association (Singapore) (PBAS) tries to garner as much support and publicity for the sport.

TILT had been very fortunate to be part of this competition since its birth. We witness the spirit of the sportsmen. The intensity and determination of the administrators and sportsmen, the teamwork, grace and gull of the paintballers are definitely worth applauding. All feelings and emotions can be aptly displayed through the photograph taken below during SPNS Leg 1, where we see a paintballer intense in winning at all cost against the backdrop of the SPNS logo.

    Intensity

We feel so much for the photograph and the sport that we had also submitted this photograph for a local competition, YEOS H20 Ultimate Photography Challenge, and we had since been shortlisted as one of the finalist. The photograph is open for voting and if you feel the same way as we do, do cast a vote for us.

The entry is aptly titled, ‘Intensity’.

15th August 2009 was a special day. Not only was it a day where One World – One Day – One Photo : Saturday August 15th 2009 is happening, it is also the day where The Lion Story was performing at Esplanade Outdoor Theatre.

One World – One Day – One Photo : Saturday August 15th 2009 is a project that hopes to gather contributors from ALL OVER THE WORLD in a visual celebration of the world we live in. The countries which have signed up to date are Denmark, South Africa, USA, Canada, Trinidad & Tobago, Hong Kong, Croatia, Australia, UK, Latvia, Singapore, New Zealand, Taiwan, Faroe Islands, Chile, Iceland, Sweden, Egypt, Russia, China, Turkey, France, Japan, Tunisia, Norway, Israel, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Netherlands, Finland, Bahrain, Azerbaijan, Greece, Belgium and Barbados.

From TILT’s perspective, we felt that it was apt to let the world hear about the lion’s story (Singapura is also known as the lion city) and with that, we submitted a photograph of a local band, The Lion Story, who was performing that night at Esplanade Outdoor Theatre. The Lion Story is a local band that had beneffitted from NOISE Singapore’s The Apprenticeship Programme. We hope the photograph do make the mark to be published in the photography book so that the world can hear the lion roar.

We all sat down together to check out the pics TILT shot, and we were really amazed at the quality and expression in the pictures you’ve captured! Thanks so much mannn! You’re awesome!

    Lose to Win!

How can you win by losing? Health Promotion Board (HPB) together with its partners demonstrates this through the ‘Lose to Win’ Challenge in this year’s National Healthy Lifestyle Campaign.

In Singapore, obesity among adults aged 18 – 69 have been increasing steadily from 5.1% in 1992 to the 6.9% in 2004. Although this figure is still considered low, HPB is concerned as there can be adverse health consequences associated with obesity, such as diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease, certain cancers and osteoarthritis.

HPB National Healthy Lifestyle Campaign 2009

For the National Healthy Lifestyle Campaign 2009, HPB, together with its partners, put obesity in the limelight to raise awareness and motivate people towards healthy lifestyle practices. This 3-month long campaign will kick-off with the “Lose to Win” Challenge for workplaces. The challenge aims to inspire & motivate groups of employees to lose weight the healthy way through the provision of an effective structured programme.

After a four-year absence from the last coverage of the National Healthy Lifestyle Campaign 2005, TILT is proud to be the Official Photographers and Videographers for National Healthy Lifestyle Campaign 2009.

    The S$10 Million Deal

It is a big deal, in fact, it is the S$10 million deal when Standard Chartered Bank renewed its naming rights sponsorship of the Singapore Marathon for another four years. This year also marked a change in the event’s apparel sponsor from Adidas to New Balance.

During the Press Conference held at Battery Road, which TILT was covering as the Official Photographers for this year’s Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon, it was revealed that Standard Chartered bank will invest another S$10 million in promotion and sponsorship fees for the marathon until 2012. This ensures the marathon will continue to grow and flourish in Singapore.
